When Praise Precedes the Process

By Dr. Tabatha Pittman

Crowds once shouted “Hosanna!” as Jesus entered Jerusalem.

They laid down palm branches. They celebrated Him as King. They honored Him openly and loudly. Yet within days, many of those same voices would fall silent—or worse, join the cries for His crucifixion.

This moment reveals something profound about human nature and divine purpose.

Praise is easy when expectations are being met.

But what happens when the process does not look like the promise?

In Matthew 21:9, the people cried, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” They expected a political deliverer, a visible ruler who would immediately change their circumstances.

But Jesus came with a deeper mission—one that required sacrifice before victory.

There are seasons in our lives when we celebrate what God is doing. We recognize His hand, we rejoice in His goodness, and we feel confident about what lies ahead.

But then the process shifts.

Things don’t unfold the way we expected. The timeline changes. The outcome looks different than we imagined.

And in those moments, our praise is tested.

Will we still trust Him when we don’t understand Him?

Will we still honor Him when the path becomes difficult?

Jesus knew the praise would not last. Yet He continued forward in obedience to the will of the Father.

That is the heart of true faith—not praise based on outcomes, but praise rooted in trust.

This week invites us to examine our own response.

Are we praising God only when life feels favorable? Or are we anchored in a faith that remains steady through every season?

Hosanna means “save now.”

And while the crowd expected immediate rescue, Jesus was working a greater salvation—one that would reach far beyond that moment.

God is still working in ways we may not fully understand.

And even when the process feels uncertain, His purpose remains sure.

Let your praise go deeper than your expectations.

Because what God is doing is bigger than what you see.

Until tomorrow—stay anchored, stay hopeful, and hold on to Yeshua.
