There is a lot to celebrate at Copiah Lincoln Community College as two members of its Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program bring home top honors from a regional meeting in Biloxi.
Whitney Bishop of Florence, a Co-Lin MLT student, earned Student of the Year. The statewide honor recognizes her academic excellence, leadership, and strong commitment to the field of laboratory science.
Paula Yarborough of Bogue Chitto, Co-Lin’s MLT Program Director, earned Member of the Year. She also received the Omicron Sigma Award for Service, which honors professionals who go above and beyond through volunteer work, professional involvement, and service to others.
Some Co-Lin graduates say these recognitions highlight more than individual achievement. They also point to the strength and quality of the Medical Laboratory Technology program at Co-Lin.
Bishop’s award reflects how well the program prepares students to excel at the state level and enter a critical healthcare field where accuracy and skill directly impact patient care. Yarborough’s recognition underscores strong program leadership and a commitment to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Together, the honors show a program that is building a strong pipeline of trained, dedicated healthcare workers in Mississippi.
The Bi State Meeting brought together laboratory professionals, educators, and students from across Mississippi and Louisiana for professional development, continuing education, and recognition of excellence in clinical laboratory science.
