The Yes That Cost Everything

By Dr. Tabatha Pittman

In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed one of the most powerful prayers recorded in Scripture.

In Luke 22:42, He said, “Not My will, but Yours, be done.”

This was the moment of surrender.

Before the cross came the crushing.

Gethsemane means “oil press”—a place where olives were crushed to produce oil. It is symbolic of what Jesus experienced—pressure, anguish, and surrender.

Yet He said yes.

There are moments in life where obedience feels costly. Where surrender requires letting go of comfort, control, or understanding.

But surrender leads to purpose.

Jesus’ yes made way for salvation.

And our yes positions us for God’s will.

If you are in a place of pressure, remember: God is not abandoning you.

He is preparing you.

And your yes matters more than you realize.

Until tomorrow—stay anchored, stay hopeful, and hold on to Yeshua.
