Weekend Weather: Heat May Ease, But Don’t Put the Umbrella Away Yet

By Meteorologist Paul Williams | Williams Weather Window

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. — The weekend forecast is looking more manageable than the extreme heat we’ve recently experienced, but Mississippi weather rarely makes promises that far in advance.

Saturday and Sunday should feature a generally more tolerable pattern across Simpson County.

Temperatures are expected to remain warm, but the oppressive combination of heat and humidity may not be as dominant as it has been.

There is still some potential for showers and thunderstorms, particularly as Gulf moisture remains available across the region.

That means outdoor plans shouldn’t necessarily be canceled.

Just keep an eye on the sky.

The good news is that the overall weather pattern appears less hostile than the scorching conditions that have dominated portions of September.

For anyone planning weekend activities, the best approach may be simple:

Enjoy the break in the heat, but keep a backup plan for a passing shower or thunderstorm.

Mississippi weather has a way of reminding us who’s really in charge.

We’ll keep watching it for you.
