SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. — Tuesday could be the day we finally begin to notice a change in the weather pattern.
The heat won’t disappear just yet. Simpson County can still expect temperatures in the 90s, with humidity adding to the afternoon discomfort.
But a weak frontal boundary and increasing moisture may give scattered showers and thunderstorms a better opportunity to develop across portions of Mississippi.
That doesn’t mean Tuesday is shaping up to be an all-day washout.
Far from it.
The more likely setup is the familiar Mississippi summertime combination of sunshine, clouds and scattered afternoon or evening storms.
Where storms develop, brief heavy rainfall and lightning will be possible.
The bigger story, however, is what happens behind the front.
The weather pattern is beginning to shift, and that could eventually bring lower humidity and more manageable temperatures into the region.
For Simpson County, Tuesday may be less about immediate relief and more about the first hint that the atmosphere is finally preparing to turn the page.
