One More Hot Monday: Simpson County Starts the Week With Summer-Like Heat

By Meteorologist Paul Williams | Williams Weather Window

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. — The calendar may be pointing toward fall, but Monday’s weather certainly isn’t cooperating.

Simpson County starts the new workweek with another round of late-September heat and humidity. Temperatures are expected to climb well into the 90s, with the combination of heat and moisture making it feel even warmer.

The National Weather Service continues to monitor heat concerns across Mississippi as the region begins the week under a stubborn warm pattern.

An isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm also can’t be ruled out, although most of the county should remain dry.

In other words, don’t put those summer clothes away just yet.

The good news is that there are signs the weather pattern may begin changing as the week progresses.

A frontal boundary and shifting upper-level pattern could eventually allow somewhat cooler and drier air to move into Mississippi.

But that’s a story for later in the week.

For Monday, Simpson County gets one more reminder that Mississippi doesn’t always follow the calendar.

Williams Weather Window will continue watching the forecast as the week unfolds.
