Rick Ross Is Pulling Up to Jackson — And Bringing a Message Bigger Than Music

By K. Monroe Carter

Rick Ross is headed back to Mississippi, but this visit is about more than music.

The Grammy-nominated rapper, entrepreneur and bestselling author will appear at the Mississippi Book Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, in downtown Jackson, where he plans to share lessons on creativity, reinvention and building a lasting legacy.

Born in Clarksdale, Ross is returning to his Mississippi roots to introduce his latest book, Renaissance of a Boss Man: Notes from a Creative Reawakening. The book offers a more personal side of the hip-hop mogul, focusing on growth, purpose and navigating success beyond fame.

Festival attendees can expect an honest and energetic conversation as Ross reflects on his journey through music, business and personal evolution. The discussion is expected to explore what it means to redefine success while continuing to grow creatively and professionally.

Ross, founder of Maybach Music Group, has released 11 albums that landed on the Billboard 200 chart, including five No. 1 debuts. Over the years, he has become known not only for his music career, but also for building a business empire that stretches across entertainment, branding and entrepreneurship.

In addition to his newest release, Ross previously authored the New York Times bestselling books Hurricanes and The Perfect Day to Boss Up. He currently lives in Atlanta.

The Mississippi Book Festival appearance adds another major name to this year’s lineup and gives fans a chance to hear directly from one of hip-hop’s most recognizable voices … this time from behind the pages of a book instead of behind a microphone.
