Simpson County residents will gather for a community-wide prayer service this month as part of a national observance marking America’s 250th anniversary.
Organizers will host the “Rededicate 250” event at 6 p.m. May 17 at the intersection near City Hall. The service will bring together local churches, residents and community leaders for an evening of prayer, praise and thanksgiving.
The gathering is part of a nationwide jubilee effort encouraging communities across the country to reflect on faith, unity and shared history.
“All churches are invited to participate,” according to a flyer.
Organizers also invite community members to join a community choir that will perform during the service.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating.
The event is free and open to the public.
