After the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus gave specific instructions to his disciples.
Matthew 28:18-20 says:
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
This command applies to all born-again believers.
As children of the almighty God, we are called to live in a way that draws people to Christ.
Too often, this calling is missing from the universal church.
Yes, we attend church and have a wonderful time hearing good singing and preaching, seeing different people, and enjoying a good meal afterward. That is good.
However, that is only part of what we should be doing—a small part. Jesus demonstrated that we need to be among people outside the church.
Jesus said in Luke 5:31 (NLT), “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; sick people do” (read Luke 5:27-32).
This is just one of many examples where Jesus spent time with people outside the church.
There are people who do not go to church who need the church to come to them. It is time for the Church to leave the building.
Until next week, be intentional about reaching people who do not go to church.
