It’s Okay If People Don’t Agree With You.
The Hard Truth: As long as you are standing on God’s Word, It is okay if people don’t agree with you.
Many people left Jesus after He spoke hard truths in John 6.
They did not understand His teaching about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. They grumbled and said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” (John 6:60). Jesus knew their thoughts. He did not change His message to make them happy.
Walking Away: If you are walking with God, it’s in one’s best interest to let people leave who are not walking in the same direction as you are. Don’t push them away, encourage them to make the correct decision, but ultimately the choice is theirs.
John 6:66 says, “After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.” Jesus did not run after them. He did not beg them to stay. He turned to the twelve disciples and asked if they wanted to go away too (John 6:67). Simon Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
Jesus stayed true to His mission, even when crowds left.
Finding Peace: You cannot be at peace with people in your lives who are not supposed to be there.
You do not need everyone to agree with you. Trying to please everyone stops you from speaking truth.
Jesus spoke God’s truth, and some people still walked away. Accept that not everyone will accept your path, your choices, or your beliefs. Focus on staying close to what is right instead of winning approval.
Until next time, be intentional on who you allow in your inner circle and be at peace with who’s in it and who’s not.
