Sometimes, for many reasons, we make decisions to throw in the towel and give up. About a month ago, several of us were having a conversation about the many aches, pains and problems we were experiencing. Some even began to feel like giving up because the sparks of life seemed to be losing their ability to create flames.
After attending the Senior Center at the Y, fellowshipping with others, exercising and participating in activities, those sparks slowly began to grow into a blaze. Soon, a group of community members started discussing how this experience could help others in the community who may not want to travel far. The spark was shared, and the flame appeared.
Now, every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., some continue to go to the Y. Then, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, approximately 16 or more people gather at Triple E in the community. They are welcomed with enthusiastic encouragement and uplifting words designed to help turn their sparks into a blaze.
Then the fun begins with chair exercises, walking and fellowship.
Everyone is welcome — male or female, young or old. Remember, there are still many sparks of fire in our lives. Let’s enjoy them and share them with others.
When the gym is completed at McLaurin Attendance Center, the exercise class will move there. The facility has also been approved as a Mississippi Historical State Landmark.
This program is sponsored by MC-MVAC.
