The Truth About Tap Water

By Tony Cozart | The Godfather of Haircare

If you use tap water daily to hydrate your hair, there is something you should know.

Tap water is generally safe to drink, but it can also contain chlorine and minerals that may contribute to dryness or buildup on the hair and scalp, especially when it is part of your daily routine.

I suggest using distilled water instead.

Distilled water has fewer minerals than tap water, which can help reduce mineral deposits and buildup and leave the scalp feeling cleaner.

I also suggest using distilled water as your final rinse after shampooing.

Here’s another helpful tip if you want to rehydrate your hair daily:

Mix three parts distilled water with one part hydrating conditioner in a spray bottle. Add a few drops of a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil.

Use the mixture to help refresh and hydrate your hair, especially when wearing chemical-free, no-heat hairstyles.

Remember, properly hydrated hair helps maintain moisture balance and keeps your hair looking and feeling its best.
