Fulfilling The Great Commission
After the resurrection of Jesus, he told his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20 to go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spiritand to teach these new disciples to obey all the commands hehad given them. This is commonly referred to as The Great Commission. One thing I have learned is if people don’t see or believe the goodness of God in your life, your testimony will be ineffective, and it will be very hard to teach someone about the Bible. One way for people to see the goodness of God in our lives is how we treat them. Romans 12 is full of good examples;
• Romans 12:9 (NLT) – Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.
• Romans 12:10 (NLT) – …take delight in honoring each other.
• Romans 12:13 (NLT) – When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
• Romans 12:14 (NLT) – Bless those who persecute you. …pray that God will bless them.
• Romans 12:17 (NLT) – …Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.
• Romans 12:18 (NLT) – Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
• Romans 12:21 (NLT) – Don’t let evil conquer you butconquer evil by doing good.
When people see these qualities in someone, (and others in Romans 12), more times than not, they will listen to what you have to tell them. Once they start listening, we can carry out The Great Commission.
Until next week, be intentional on living Romans 12.
