Let us first address the basics. There are four types of hair color: rinse, semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent.
As some of you may have witnessed, coloring the hair can cause excessive dryness and brittleness. For some people, it can also cause an itchy scalp.
There is a method that can upgrade your color application while helping maintain hydration and moisture during the coloring process.
Before coloring the hair, always add 1 to 2 tablespoons of hydrating conditioner to your color.
This method allows the conditioner to travel through the hair along with the color, helping maintain hydration and moisture throughout the process.
Color either stains the cuticle layer of the hair or strips the hair of its natural pigment, depending on the type of color being used. The coloring process can contribute to a loss of moisture and conditioning benefits.
Adding a hydrating conditioner to the color can help replenish moisture and leave the hair feeling softer and more conditioned.
After coloring, use a hydrating shampoo followed by a moisturizing conditioner to help maintain the hair’s moisture and conditioning benefits while caring for your color.
Remember, healthy-looking color starts with healthy, hydrated hair.
